You're all invited to join us on air for a week of participatory community radio from the L A Bown March 22 to 27.

The event is called the Sonic Potluck Celebration and it all leads up to Music Industry and Performance's 24th public performance.

But it's also a great opportunity for community groups to publicize new initiatives.

And, as usual, we welcome local musicians, story tellers, poets and actors to help us celebrate the diverse culture of Bay St. George.

The original concept was to bring together students from the public schools and the College of the North Atlantic to enable the programming while inviting as many community groups, musicians and story tellers as possible from the region to participate. It has been a few years since the community collaborated on an in-depth cultural celebration and public discussion of community topics.

Programming has been divided into (but not restricted to) theme days.

1. Community Engagement Day - Monday, March 22.

2. Multiculturalism Day - Tuesday, March 23.

3. Environment Day - Wednesday, March 24.

4. Agriculture / Economy Day - Thursday, March 25.

5. Intergenerational Day - Friday, March 26.

Community studies students from the college have been busy organizing the schedule. Anybody wanting to participate should contact maria.macdonald@ed.cna.nl.ca or phone Vanessa Glasgow, Town Council, Port au Port West at 648-2891.

This event could also be a stepping-stone to a permanent regional community radio network, as being implemented on the souÕwest coast and proposed for Bonne Bay.

The Sonic Potluck Celebration is a collaboration of the Rural Secretariat, the Long Range RED Board, Communities In Schools and the College of the North Atlantic.

We will broadcast on FM 104.7 and simultaneously webcast.
